HISTORY

 

 

İpeker is one of the leading companies in its field with its high quality and service philosophy that respects the environment and people by bringing its fashion steering ideas into action in weaving, dying and printing collections. Founded by Gaffarzade Mehmet Efendi at the end of 1800s, our company was named ‘İPEKER’ in 1930 and is being operated today by the synergy of 3rd and 4th generations.

    End of 1800s

    Ipeker family started doing business at the end of 1800s as ‘Gaffarzadeler’, with the production and trade of silkworm.

    1920

    İpeker started industrialism by establishing silk yarn unwinding and texturing facility.

    1930

    İpeker weaving facility was established.

    1932-1933

    İpeker Stores started to be opened.

  • 1940-1950

     

    Dying and printing facilities were fully integrated. Ipeker became the leading integrated textile facility of Europe as of the era. World’s first fully automated printing technique was founded in İpeker by the Swiss Buser Machinery.

    1950

    İpeker started its operations in İstanbul. First İstanbul store was opened in Sultanhamam district of İstanbul.

  •  

    1960-1965

    Manufacturing started at Turkey’s first industrial zone Bursa Organized İndustrial Zone. In the meantime, ‘the first printed fabric’ was exported to Paris, France.

  • 1970-1980

    Company moved on to export oriented work with improved quality management. Relations with Germany accelerated. Separate product groups apart from silk were formed. Export to London started. Transfer paper export to abroad started after the first transfer paper print was realized in Turkey for the first time in 1970. Transfer papers manufactured by İpeker were used by İpeker for its own transfer prints for the first time.

  • 1980

    Many Many reputable European machinery manufacturers of today started their first business in Turkey in İpeker factory. First steps of new state of the art technologies and investments towards industrialism in textiles were taken in Ipeker factories. First trials of abrasion printings on synthetic fabrics were carried out in İpeker factories.

  •  

    1985

    Continuous fining machine that adds silky qualities to the synthetic fabrics was first brought to Turkey by İpeker, which had an important role in the development of Turkish Textile in the field of synthetics.

  •  

    1985-1990

    Growth in Export as well as the relations with America accelerated and the first projectile shop assistants were imported from Sulzer Ruti, Switzerland.

  •  

    1991

    The first new generation Stork CAD-CAM and the first Stork sample digital printing machine in this field was brought to İpeker in Turkey.

  •  

    1995

    Augsburg İpeker GMBH Germany was founded and the collections designed abroad were exported first handedly, without any resource.

    1996

    Ecologic fibrillated copper rayon CUPRO manufacturing started in Turkey for the first time by İpeker. İpeker accomplished obtaining the first OEKO-TEX 100 certificate in its field in the sector.

    2000

    The period of commercial relations with Russia and opening up to new markets continued.

  •  

    2008

    İpeker started exporting to the Far East with its own collections and established İpeker Asia Organizations.

  • 2011

    Digital Printing Technology used for small yardages and sampling started to be used for serial manufacturing. Production of New Life recycling fabrics started with a Global Recycle Standard certification, first in İpeker in its sector.

  •  

    2012

    Eco-digital printing started. First Dornier P1 weaving machine for the product groups in its field were installed at İpeker in Turkey.

  •  

    2013

    İpeker established its liaison office in Como, İtaly. Great part of the factory machinery park was modified within the framework of renewal and expansion.

  •  

    2014

    İpeker continued to invest in green solutions and focused on reducing carbon footprint actions in production.

  • 2015

    Ipeker announces that its green operations will help saving 431,170 grown trees, with its full sustainability program. Ipeker is the winner of the most environmental friendly industrial plant award 2015.

  • 2016

    İpeker announces that its green operations will help saving 540,313 grown trees, with its full sustainability program. Ipeker is the winner of the 2016 the Most Environmental Friendly Export Company.

  • 2017

    We proudly announce that İpeker is the first V-labeled fabric producer in the world. The European Vegetarian Union certifies that İpeker’s 146 different fabrics correspond to the guidelines of the European Vegetarian Label and categorized in the Vegan V-label.

     

    Ipeker is the winer of Sustainable Business Award 2017.

    Bursa Organized Industrial Zone - the most environmental friendly Industrial Plant award 2018
